South Korean giant and video game developer Pearl Abyss, during the Pearl Abyss Press Conference in Busan, South Korea, subtly announced the open-world action-adventure game – Crimson Desert in 2019, along with three other games. The other games revealed then were PLAN 8, DokeV, and Shadow Arena. These four games were announced at the Pearl Abyss press conference at the G-Star in 2019 in Busan, South Korea.

Set in a fantasy and adventurous open world on the continent of Pywel – a vast continent of divided regions, the Crimson Desert was initially stated as the prequel to the Black Desert, but during the development phase, the company began to create a whole new storyline, along with a whole new set of characters. The game focuses on the survival of people after the Pywel’s King is taken ill in the divided regions of the continent. The people must seek survival in the chaos of war-torn Pywel, where allegiances will be tested, and heroes will be made.
The game revolves around an untold tale of mercenaries struggling to survive in the unforgiving lands of Pywel.
As released in the first trailer, the game’s main protagonist (Macduff) is the leader of a mercenary group with a tragic past and is quite distressed over his responsibilities. The mercenaries also have stories of their own. And they all must survive in these open and deadly lands of Pywel. The game will feature both online multiplayer and single-player options.
Crimson Desert is set on the continent with regions of varying climates. From the snow-ridden lands up north to the rich plains down south, the players will encounter lands featuring unique geographic traits and a world where a diverse mix of human and non-human races co-exist.
The game focuses on in-game AI to make it as human as possible.
Pearl Abyss recently announced that the game will be available to experience at the Gamescom 2024 event from August 21 to 25 at the Crimson Desert booth – Koelnmesse Exhibition Center in Cologne, Germany. The demo shows the intense action-combat mechanics, featuring Kliff as the player character. Players will become familiar with the basics of attacking, blocking, dodging, and special skills while facing hordes of enemies.

Reed Devil Boss – A masked opponent with a dark past. The Reed Devil’s life began as an outcast until he wore a mask. This changed his destiny and made him the devil, terrorising anyone. A conjurer of magic tricks, he can deliver deathly blows with rapid movement and vanish into thin air.
Queen Stoneback Crab Boss – The saying “all that glitters is not always gold” goes true for this one. At a glance, it’s a hill with elegance. Behind the elegance is a formidable enemy ready to send any trespasser to their grave. Once someone tries to climb the mountain, the Crab Boss shows its actual color by changing to the original form to throw stones for maximum attack.
White Horn Boss – A monster born from the blizzards of the White Mountains, White Horn is a formidable opponent. The glowing eyes, fangs, and antlers fear anyone who makes the mistake of crossing paths with this beast. Apart from the cold of the mountains, the wrath of the White Horn will be a bone-chilling experience.
